A strategy game from a board game

Ancient Hegemon began as a board game. On iPhone it keeps the board's clarity: every land, army and decision is on one map. It also adds what a table can't, like rulers who remember, a fresh world every game, and courts you can visit.

Rule a realm, not just an army

Grow grain, collect taxes, raise walls, and build roads, farms, mines, harbours and granaries. Keep your people fed and your legitimacy high, or face unrest, rebellion and civil war.

Your throne room tells your story

Trophies, statues and splendour win prestige and steady the throne. Your council (general, steward, envoy and high priest) tells you how the realm stands. Plan for heirs, regents and contested crowns.

Diplomacy, face to face

Stand before rival rulers in their own halls. You can:

  • offer gifts, royal marriages, pacts and alliances
  • trade any goods for any goods
  • call for embargoes
  • demand tribute

They remember how you treated them.

Kingdoms with minds of their own

Every land outside the empires belongs to a kingdom with its own ruler and memory. You can win it with gifts, cow it into vassalage, or conquer it. Vassals pay tribute and send warriors, until your power falters and they rise against you.

War on land and sea

  • Draw up your battle line and choose your plan before every battle.
  • Besiege walled cities, starve out garrisons, or sally out against besiegers.
  • Build fleets, brave storms and pirates, and land armies on distant shores.
